Visit to the Jamea Mosque
On Thursday March 23rd the annual Sacred Places Trip took place. All Year 8 pupils visited the Jamea (Central) Mosque in Blackburn, Blackburn Cathedral and the Bolton Hindu Temple.
They were given a wealth of information and an insight into the similarities and differences in the principles and worship practices of three great World Religions. The pupils were extremely respectful and took the opportunity to ask a wide range of fascinating and searching questions. Having our own boys and girls from different faiths sharing their knowledge and experiences made it all the more relevant.
For some, their vegetarian packed lunch was a journey into the unknown, but on a more serious note, it was clear that the pupils realised just how important religion still is within the local community.
