AJIS Cross Country

A magnificent afternoon for Cross Country saw a nervous, yet confident Westholme team stride onto the Rossall course. A team briefing from Mrs Ingham and a robust warm up from Mr Haworth gave us the perfect preparation.

The Year 5 boys went first and shot out of the blocks like scalded rabbits. It was great to see our two Year 4 runners coming in first for Westholme. Well done to Henry and Joseph! A respectable 330 points scored from the team.

Next were the Year 5 girls. Some great team running saw our first two, Willa and Evie, coming in near the front and good back up from the rest of the team. We scored 316 points.

The Year 6 boys competed next. This was a very tough race and everyone tried their hardest but found it difficult to finish near the front.

The Year 6 girls race was super competitive and it was a real pleasure to see Eve win the whole race by a clear margin. A fantastic race from her! She was well supported by the team and they scored our lowest total of 216 to be in contention for an overall team place. Sadly, it wasn’t to be.

We are very proud of everyone who participated as it is never easy to run in a competitive Cross Country event. Very well done to all.

As ever, manners are key and it was great to see our 4 team captains go up and thank the organiser for such a great event.
