Prep Prizegiving Ceremony
On Wednesday lunchtime, we held our Prep Prizegiving ceremony in the Croston Theatre. We were delighted to welcome former Westholme student, and now international businesswoman, Erika Clegg to speak to us and distribute prizes.
The school orchestra started the ceremony with a rendition of the ‘Can-Can’, with Upper Prep Voices then singing ‘Believe’ with Mrs Eames orchestrating. It was a lovely way to start the ceremony and get everyone in the mood for an end of term celebration. Mr Taylor stood to give a speech, welcoming everyone and giving his thoughts on the year and the future of Westholme Prep. Next up, Prep 2 students gave a special performance of ‘London’s Burning’ on Ocarinas.
Head of Prep Mrs Hornby also spoke, listing a series of highlights and successful events that had taken place throughout the year with the aid of photographs on the projector screen. From author visits, school trips and welcoming special guests such as astronaut Tim Peake, there has been plenty for students, staff and parents to get excited about in a busy and eventful year. Mrs Hornby wished our Prep 6 leavers a fond farewell, students and parents, thanking them for their time at Westholme Prep.
Guest of honour and Old Westholmian Erika Clegg was introduced by Rameen, the winner of the Prep 5 Reading Competition, and she handed out the student prizes alongside Mr Harrison and Mrs Dixon.
Erika then spoke to the audience who had gathered, speaking of her memories as a Westholme student and giving words of encouragement to the students for their future endeavours both inside and outside school.
Mrs Dixon and members of the Sixth Form student executive also took to the stage, and awarded Prep 6 students with giftbags as a gesture of goodwill ahead of the next chapter in their school life.
Overall, it was a lovely way to end the year at Westholme Prep, celebrate the achievements of our students, and recognise their talents in front their fellow classmates, teachers and parents.
