Year 10 Computer Science students took part in BIMA Digital Day and we welcomed Space48 to talk about designing, growing and building eCommerce.
Selected students from year 9, and the year 10 Computer Science class were invited to join in with what turned out to be a fantastic day. The day started with an introduction from Space 48 where they explained about e-commerce and it’s challenges, the role they play in business and how they came to be in their chosen careers.
The students asked insightful and interesting questions and engaged well. Next we moved on to the competition, the students split in to 5 groups where they chose a project; create something to remove plastics from our oceans, develop an app in association with Wimbledon to encourage fitness or design a marketing campaign to encourage young people in to digital careers.
Students had to research these areas, come up with an idea and pitch their idea to the rest of the class where they were being judged. Students voted on their favourite pitches then Space 48 and Miss Cooper chose the best pitch from each of the 3 categories to be entered in to the national competition. The students made the most of the opportunities they had including a fantastic careers drop in session held at lunchtime. They were a credit to the school, made our visitors feel welcome and really enjoyed the day. We can’t wait to host BIMA 2020!
