Congratulations to former pupil Charlotte Cootes, who recently achieved her Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Having left Westholme Sixth Form in 2020, Charlotte has continued working hard towards her Gold award since finishing School – where she successfully completed her Bronze and Silver awards (pictured below).
Luckily, Charlotte managed to complete most of her activities before COVID, but she has had to finish the final part during lockdown.
Her final test was a running challenge, where she had to keep a timing log sheet to keep track of her runs in order to reach the requirements necessary.
She also volunteered for the Ribble Valley Trust, taking part in voluntary work planting trees and looking after the environment.
She has continued to do this even after completing her activities, and regularly volunteers for the Ribble Rivers Trust with her dad, Gary. Together they work with other volunteers in the area to protect trees, rivers and natural habitats in the Ribble Valley.
They both featured in a video for the Ribble Rivers Trust, which you can watch here –
Well done on your achievement Charlotte, and keep up the great work!
