Chemistry at Catalyst

Cool Chemistry for Year 7

Westholme’s Year 7 pupils visited the chemical museum Catalyst in Widnes recently.  The visit provided an opportunity to see how the chemical industry plays an important part in everyday lives.  The girls enjoyed interacting with the exhibits and were entertained by the Flash Bang Show which involved explosions, liquid nitrogen and a wide variety of colourful experiments.  Girls also viewed a 3D film about recycling and were able to select materials and fuel to build a car for the future.  Screams were heard at the end when the car drove ‘out of’ the screen at full speed towards them!
