Footballing Fundraiser for CALM

On Monday 25 October, three of our Sixth Former students will set off on an extraordinary week-long road-trip to visit all 92 professional league football grounds across the UK.

Westholme Head Boy Ben Middleton, Jake Sharrocks and Fin Shepherd will drive across the country to visit notable stadiums such as Old Trafford, Anfield, Stamford Bridge and Ewood Park. Alongside this they’ll visit some of the smaller professional grounds such as Forest Green Rovers, Sutton Utd and Plymouth Argyle.

Whilst in London they will also have to traverse the London Underground to visit a number of grounds, before they head back up North, with help from family and friends along the way. All three are big Manchester United fans so have made sure that the Manchester United home ground (Old Trafford) is one of their final stops before making their way back home.

The trio are raising money and awareness for the charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) in support of suicide prevention. You can find out more about the wonderful work CALM do here.

On Friday 1 October, they will run an in-school fundraiser in the build-up to their trip, with all Westholme staff and students being asked to donate what they can in support of CALM. We’d like to wish Ben, Jake and Fin the best of luck from everyone at Westholme!
