Infant and Junior World Book Day Celebrations

On Friday, children at our Infant and Junior Schools celebrated World Book Day and reading by dressing up (either as a character or in Pyjamas) and taking part in an action packed day of activities and fun!

Children from Reception to Year 2 were particularly excited as they spent the day at the Beardwood site, as part of their transition process of getting to know the layout of the site and school buildings before they move in September.

Throughout the day, the pupils enjoyed book related activities through Drama, Sport, ICT and Art. As well as this, there were plenty of opportunities for reading with allocated Reading Buddy Slots.

They then tucked in to a Roald Dahl themed lunch provided by Thomas Franks. It really was delicious!

Nursery and Pre School children followed an equally exciting programme of activities based around reading. They were lucky enough to have a second day of visiting readers from Senior School to share their favourite stories with them.

World Book Day and a week of focused activities on reading are all opportunities to inspire our pupils to read every day, to love books and open up a world of stories and lifelong learning.

A huge personal thank you to all staff for organising these special events and for enriching the children’s curriculum in such an exciting way.
