Prep 3 Explore Together
Stone Age Adventures in Outdoor Learning!
We held our Explore Together afternoon for Prep 3 students and parents on Monday, where children and parents took part in an exciting Stone Age-themed afternoon. As part of our history topic, they stepped into the shoes of early humans to experience life thousands of years ago!
Using the Outdoor Learning facilities outside, they worked together to build dens using sticks, leaves, and natural resources, thinking about how people in the Stone Age used their surroundings for shelter and survival. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring history to life and link it with teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.
Inside the classroom, the children created their own cave art by painting on rocks using natural materials and earthy tones, just like early humans might have done inside caves. They explored the animals often found in prehistoric art and thought carefully about how they used cave art as a form of communication.
These activities helped deepen their understanding of how early humans lived, communicated, and adapted to their environment, supporting our curriculum learning on the Stone Age to Iron Age.
