Prep 4 visit the Aquarium
On Monday 23 June, Prep 4 enjoyed an exciting day at the Blue Planet Aquarium — luckily, there were no shark attacks!
When asked about what the most memorable part of the day was, many children instantly mentioned their time in the aquarium’s underwater tunnel! Whilst there, the children gasped in awe as colourful sharks, fish, and other sea creatures swirled above their heads, sparking plenty of lively discussions.
During the day, Prep 4 attended an engaging workshop on the dangers of microplastics. The children learned about the impact of plastic pollution on marine life and the importance of keeping our oceans clean. They participated in hands-on activities to understand how microplastics enter the water and the steps we can take to reduce our use of plastics.
Next, the students watched an informative aquatic show, where they learned about the specialist diving equipment used by marine experts. The staff explained and demonstrated how each piece of equipment works, giving the children a fascinating glimpse into underwater exploration. The excitement in the air was palpable as they watched the aquarium’s diving team enter the water and feed the sharks.
The adventure continued into the vibrant Lake Malawi exhibit, where the children discovered the diverse fish species that call it home. They then explored the Amazon rainforest, immersing themselves in its enchanting sounds and sights. The children also visited the chilly Northern Streams and the dazzling Coral Cave, each holding wonders that sparked their curiosity and imaginations.
The children behaved impeccably and the staff who worked at the aquarium commented upon their fantastic conduct and enthusiasm. Well done Prep 4!
