This afternoon, the students from our Prep School gathered together with parents, siblings and friends at Blackburn Cathedral for the annual Carol Service, led by The Very Reverend Peter Howell-Jones, Dean of Blackburn.
It was a joy to be back in the cathedral after last year and the service marked the beginning of the Christmas season. The atmosphere was magical as the children sang, performed, read and played beautifully.
The service began with the string and recorder groups playing Christmas songs and carols. This set the scene for a festive celebration of readings, moving musical performances and uplifting vocals.
To choose a favourite song is impossible, with so many new songs being sung, but ’No room at the Inn’, ‘Love Shone Down’, ‘Christmas Lullaby’ and the Year 1 and 2 performance of ‘Here to Worship Him’ were stand out moments of the service.
As we move into the final weeks of this half term, the spirit of Christmas is high as our Prep School students sang, read and performed wonderfully. The children radiated festive cheer throughout the celebration.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all staff who helped put the event together, with particular thanks to our music team of Mrs Tinniswood, Mrs Burton and Mr Holt, for all their efforts. Finally, of course, a massive ‘well done’ to all the children who worked so hard and performed brilliantly for our guests!
