Prizegiving

In the final week of term we celebrated prize giving for both our Junior and Senior School pupils in separate ceremonies in the Croston Theatre.

Whilst we weren’t able to hold our annual ceremonies in King George’s Hall due to the Covid restrictions, the Theatre was set up beautifully and set the scene perfectly to celebrate student successes and reflect on what has been a unique year for everyone at Westholme School.

Infants & Juniors

The Junior School ceremony was held the day before the Senior School ceremony, in the Croston Theatre. The Infants and Juniors travelled up to Wilmar Lodge to celebrate what has been a very challenging year! Prizes were distributed by Dr Robson on stage to all prize winners, who were warmly applauded, and Headteacher Mrs Barnett gave her address to the children and parents watching from home virtually. The musical interludes and choir pieces were performed magnificently. Congratulations to all!

Senior School

The Senior School ceremony started with a welcome from Dr Robson giving words of advice to our Sixth Form leavers for their time after leaving school, followed by a musical interlude featuring a rendition of ‘Smoke on the Water’ by the school Swing Band. The Chairman of Governors then gave his address before a speech by our new Student Executives.

Prizes were then distributed to prize winners on the stage, after which we saw a performance of ‘Londonderry Air’ by the Sixth Form Chamber Choir. We were also treated to a short piece from The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde performed by Hannah Forbes and Grace Ade-Hall.

After a challenging year for all of our students, we look forward to seeing you again in September after a well-deserved Summer break. We would also like to wish all our Year 13 leavers the very best with their futures ahead of them, and are thankful for their contributions to Westholme.
