Some of our youngest Westholmer’s take part in their Sports’ Day
This morning, Pre School and Reception children took part in their annual Sports’ Day.
Firstly, Pre School children were put into 3 teams; red, yellow and blue and were paired with a team leader (Miss McDermott, Miss Tudda and Miss Byrom respectively). As the events began, many parents had arrived and were cheering on the sidelines. The relay race and the Olympic Torch race took place first, followed by many others including the bicycle race and the pram race. Finally, parents kicked off their shoes to take part in their own torch relay race…what fun!
Meanwhile, over on the playground, the Reception children were also enjoying their Sports’ Day. Events such as the over (and the under!), beat the clock and the obstacle race were all contested amongst the red, blue, yellow and green teams, ably led by Mrs Carr, Mrs Hearle, Mrs Waddicor and Miss Shaw respectively. The red team were victorious overall, but it was the taking part the counted, and every single child was awarded a medal and a certificate.
A special treat for all of the children was being able to hold (and have a photograph with) the Olympic torch that Mrs Sutcliffe had carried through Keswick just last week.
Well done to all the children on a fine display of Westholme sporting spirit and thank you to all the parents who both spectated and took part!
