The Westholme Association host their annual Purple Ball
The Purple Ball was held on Saturday at Ewood Park. Members of the Association had lovingly and beautifully decorated the suite. This event is held annually and endeavours to raise funds in order to provide the children of Westholme School with that ‘something extra’.
The evening began with a champagne reception provided by Northcote who also created the delicious three course meal. During the reception, guests were offered a chance to buy a sparkly bauble, with a numbered ticket attached – to enter the limited raffle. Prizes for the limited raffle were generously donated by local businesses and parents. These were:
Gucci bracelet – kindly donated by Peter Jackson the Jeweller
Day Spa for 2 – The Woodland Spa at Crow Wood
Armani bag and purse – Mr & Mrs Hart/Mr & Mrs Lamb
Italian Table Lamp – Chelsom Lighting
Sunday lunch for 4 at the Angels, Ribchester/ kindly donated by Angels
Photo Studio voucher – Mr & Mrs Jeremy Makinson – Ribble Valley Studios
The tables looked stunning as did the guests as they descended on the main function room where the raffle prizes were displayed beautifully, thanks to the Westholme Association committee members who gave up their Saturday morning to help prepare the room.
Each guest received a glossy brochure, containing the menu, some thank you messages from the children for items donated by the Association, along with adverts for local businesses which helped to fund the event. Thanks went to Julian Pickford for his help in collating and printing the beautiful brochure. Ladies received a goody bag from Lisa Moore at FH Medispa, containing a voucher for treatments, and some chocolates.
The lucky winners were announced before dinner by Carina Lamb (Chairperson). A celebrity element was offered in the form of a ‘Scottish Grace’ by Kevin Gallacher who now helps to train our boys with his football expertise. Guests were then treated to a three course dinner with treacle cured salmon being the starter, followed by a delicious goosnargh chicken dish and a fruity meringue dessert. The vegetarian option was also delicious.
After the main course, a further chance to win raffle prizes was offered, with a huge array of prizes from generous hampers to discount vouchers for local restaurants and Spa days to bottles of champagne. These were all again very kindly donated by parents and local businesses. The purple organza bags containing party poppers, (win or no-win) and chocolates went down a storm, with committee members having to get extra bags as they had sold out! There were many more happy winners with at least one person per table receiving a prize.
The parents of Westholme, their invited friends, teachers past and present strutted their stuff on the dance floor – there was no holding back and the DJ was successful in filling the floor all night. Our happy guests chatted and laughed to the very end and reluctantly retrieved their cloaks for the carriages home at 1am!
The Purple Ball is one of our biggest fundraising events and the Westholme Association wish to thank everyone who helped to make it the success it was – early feedback is hugely positive and the raffles alone raised over £2500! Figures now in show that we raised a whopping £5000!
