Sixth Form students attend the NEC Spring Fair
Lower Sixth Business Studies students were fortunate enough to attend the NEC Spring Fair this week, as trainee buyers for James Hall Ltd. They were given the task of selecting a new product to be stocked in 500 SPAR North West outlets during Autumn/Winter 2015 – 2016. Whilst this might not seem like a daunting task, with over 1000 different exhibitors in more than twelve different halls, it was quickly realised that a tough two days were in store for the students!
On day two after some intensive negotiation training, real deals had to be struck before the students left the exhibition. It was definitely a steep learning curve but one that allowed students to put theory into practice and discover what the world of business is really like.
Next month they will present their ideas to the board of directors at James Hall and then watch to see their product selection thrive or dive in the coming months.
