National School Theatre Awards
This week, Miss Roberts and Mr Holt travelled to London with four of our students for the National School Theatre Awards, being held in the Gillian Lynne Theatre in the heart of the West End. We were honoured to be nominated for both Best Ensemble and the star prize of Best Musical for both Aladdin and Grease, a wonderful achievement, demonstrating the consistent calibre of our school productions. Additionally, four of the students from within both productions earned Best Actor and Actress nominations; Darcie and Enrikas for their performances as Sandy and Kenickie in Grease, and Lily and Samra as Aladdin and Jasmin in our Lower Senior production of Aladdin. It was a wonderful experience, as we joined hundreds of students from across the UK in a night devoted to Performing Arts and driven by the purpose of celebrating the talent and passion of students in those subjects. It was an unforgettable evening, with famous acting patrons announcing the winners and inspiring students with their own journey’s, each recounting how their love for acting was kindled at school by a unique teacher who gave them the platform to perform. Witnessing the calibre of performances on the evening from across the country, it was wonderful to see Westholme shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in Britain, deservedly sharing in the celebratory atmosphere. Whilst we didn’t bring home a trophy this year, we could not be prouder of our students and school Performing Arts community for all they continue to accomplish.
