This weekend and today, students and staff came together to pay solemn tribute to those who have fought or fallen in World War II and other conflicts, both past and present.
After an excellent and moving Remembrance Assembly this morning led by the Humanities Faculty, we concluded with the two-minute silence, playing of The Last Post and Reveille then laying a poppy wreath at our memorial flagpole.
It is always an important day in our school calendar when our community comes together to pay respects to the fallen. Yesterday, Westholme were proud to be represented at the annual Civic Service and Parade in Blackburn, along with pupils from the Junior School. With fewer and fewer World War 2 veterans surviving, it is important that as a school we ensure that the sacrifices made and lessons learned from both World Wars are never forgotten by our young people.
